Wrong bracket positioning

What’s wrong in this picture?

Not clear? What if we blow it up?

Mini-tube appliance was bonded and 012 NiTi wire was placed. Lower right and left lateral incisors need to be straightened more.

Quiz Why are lateral incisors rotated? Is it because wire is not big enough or is it because of wrong bracket positioning?

Answer It is bracket position problem.

Draw lines and check!

Draw a line following lingual and labial incisor edge. Compare with long axis of the bracket slot. You can see bracket (tube) slot doesn’t follow the contour of lateral incisors.

When wire is not deflected and the tooth position is not right, then the problem is you! You bonded the bracket in the wrong position.

Don’t waste time with placing thicker wire. Just reposition it. You don’t need 018 NiTi or 16×22 NiTi to get it straight. If bracket position is right, only 014 or 016 NiTi will be good enough.
